Green Infrastructure

April 2010

The Forest Centre is to play host to a meeting on Sunday 9th May between 10am and 1pm to allow local people to contribute to the Green Infrastructure plan by voicing their views on the current and possible future green spaces in the parish of Marston Moretaine

February 2010

Central Bedfordshire Council has asked the Forest Centre to facilitate the creation of Green Infrastructure proposals for parts of the County under pressure from development. Though the documents created by local communities will not be binding within planning decisions they will be considered seriously.

The first meeting took place on 2nd February. MMAG alongside the Parish Council and representatives of the sailing club and the water sports club explored and proposed:

• greenspace that is accessible to everyone in an area (either directly or visually)

• how local people view existing green infrastructure and the potential for the creation of more

From the first workshop a potential map of green infrastructure will be created and this will be discussed at a second meeting (9th March) that will be open to the public. MMAG have also agreed to put this on the website once it is ready.

Comments and views received will be incorporated into the final document and map.
