Following the Department for Communities and Local Government (DCLG) announcement that another consultation on the proposed eco?-town would take place with just 8 days notice the MMETAG organised a protest event at the roadshow.
On Saturday 8th November 2.30pm at the Forest Centre Marston Moretaine, the MMETAG were joined by members of other local action groups, Nadine Dorries MP and District Councillors Darren Tysoe and Mike Gibson and Ampthill Town Councillor Ghislain Pascal.
Around 70 people waving placards and banners heard the Chair of the MMETAG, Hugh Roberts confirm that the “DCLG had sneaked in and would have sneaked out. But once again the voice of protest is heard loud and clear. If we hadn’t shown up they would have said ‘no objections’ heard. They, who have sneaked in, WON’T have to live in this eco nightmare and the whole point of our campaign is WE have no intention of doing so either!”
Nadine Dorries MP thanked local residents for turning out at such short notice and encouraged them to make their views known to the DCLG.
