Subject: Local Development Framework (LDF) Consultations
I am writing on behalf of the Marston Moreteyne Action Group to comment on the Local Development Framework (LDF). Please confirm receipt of this email.
Policy MA4 – Land at Moreteyne Farm, Marston Moretaine
Site Reference: E09
We recognise that contained develpment in line with a village concept that provides homes and employment for local people is appropriate and considering the restraints on the other boundaries of the village (country park; flood plain etc) this location is suitable.
However, we strongly object to the allocation of a contingency of an additional 320 homes against failure to deliver housing stock elsewhere in Bedford Borough. We object to another authorities housing allocation being covered by our village. We object to repeated reference to the village sitting in the Northern Marston Vale. No such thing exists except as promoted by developers and plannng departments. We recognise and respect the need for Bedford Borough’s regeneration but dispute that this includes or needs to include the Central Beds village of Marston Moreteyne. As a village we occupy the space that needs to be retained as the “green lung” betwen Bedford Borough regeneration and Milton Keynes expansion and wish our Council to start viewing and referring to us in this way. Hence a contingency that is two thirds again of the actual needed allocation is unacceptable.
