Recent confusion over whether there are any legal problems relating to the Rookery Pit South site have become clearer with the publication of a Central Bedfordshire document Bedfordshire Energy and Recycling Project – Outline Business Case Background Report Appendix One. Though not a new document it is the first time an explanation of the issue with Rookery Pit has been forthcoming.
At the bottom of Page 12 it clearly states that the Rookery Pit site is encumbered with a restrictive covenant precluding any development of the site for waste management, recycling and other waste related activities. However, it goes on to say that for the right price the covenant can apparently be removed.
MMAG will continue to work establish what this means for any future potential activity at the site.
