Hundreds of concerned residents will be demonstrating outside Stewartby Village Hall, Stewartby Way, Stewartby, Bedford, MK43 9LX from 1745hrs on July 6th in protest against plans to build a monster incinerator nearby in Rookery Pit South.
The Covanta proposal is currently being examined by the Infrastructure Planning Commission who are holding open hearing events in the Forest Centre, Millennium Country Park, Marston Moreteyne on the July 5 / 6th. The IPC will then have the last open floor hearing in Stewartby Village Hall from 1900-2200 on July 6th.
The demonstration organised by the Marston Moreteyne Action Group and its sister campaign group ‘Our Marston Vale’ will provide an opportunity for all residents to come together and make their concerns heard and leading political personalities will address the crowd.
Hugh Roberts, Chair of MMAG said “We want the IPC to hear that we care about our communities and we want a future that recycles and reduces waste – not burns it”
