The Parliamentary Joint Committee on the Rookery South Order have decided to hear the petitioner’s case in full – Central Beds Council and Bedford Borough Council and the Waste Recycling Group. The hearings, which are public meetings, begin on October 24th in a committee room in the House of Lords.
The Hearings will run from 9.30 – 11.45 in the morning, and from 1.30 – 4.30 in the afternoon. They will be held on each subsequent Wednesday up to the 12th of December, but excluding the 14th of November, until the Committee has heard all of the evidence.
The local authorities will be the first to give evidence and we need to support them on that opening day with a strong public presence, as we did for the hearing in March thereby continuing to show the members of the committee that there is strong local opposition to Covanta. Regrettably there will be no opportunity to speak for members of the public.
Further details will be posted when we have them.
