Public Consultation open until 01/11/16
Central Bedfordshire is continuing its development of the next local plan that will dictate where housing and employment growth is targeted.
This stage does not explore specific sites or locations, but is still important and MMAG strongly encourages local people to access this information and make their views known.
The document presents Central Bedfordshire as four large sectors and makes initial suggestion of likelihood of development. At this stage they indicate South / West Bedfordshire as likely for growth, East Bedfordshire also with capacity for growth and the central section limited for growth. The small area ‘East-West’ within which we sit is identified for limited growth – but with greater capacity should there be significant infrastructure improvements.
It is good to see the acknowledgement that this area has taken significant growth in recent years. However, the latter statement is a potential concern as the repeated presentation of swaths of land locally for development may indicate a willingness to address infrastructure issues. You will have undoubtedly noticed the vast number of traffic measurements on roads all around the village.
MMAG encourages local people to read the short document and submit their comments. MMAG will respond shortly and as always we will put our response on the website in case any residents wish to read it and use elements that they support in their own response.
